The World Health Organization defines sexuality as the following:
Sexuality is experienced and expressed in thoughts, fantasies, desires, beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviors, practices, roles, and relationships. While sexuality can include all of these dimensions, not all of them are always experienced or expressed. Sexuality is influenced by the interaction of biological, psychological, social, economic, political, cultural, ethical, legal, historical, religious and spiritual factors. (World Health Organization. Education for Health Promotion:Report of an Intercountry Expert Committee Meeting, 2002).

Tara's life experiences and work as an educator have provided her with an exciting, rewarding, well-rounded and rich life filled with diversity in culture, relationship, religion, spirituality, and sexual expression. SEEDS Embraces Diversity in Society and is building programs to create community and accessibility. Please keep checking back as this page grows.

Alternate Educational Settings
Tara has extensive experience with youth who require additional support inside or outside of the school environment. She has taught at Burnaby Youth Custody Services with incarcerated youth and works as a teacher within the Vancouver School Board's alternate programs.

She also works with those with learning variations such as dyslexia and giftedness. With her education, experience, and training in the Learning Assistance Center as a teacher, she can easily adapt to the needs of most students in the learning environment.

English as a Second Language
Tara's experience in Japan as an English Teacher created a passion for the challenge and reward of communicating in a new language. While in Japan, she experienced the frustrations, fears, and challenges faced when visiting doctors, buying health care products, and obtaining services in a foreign country. The ability to communicate effectively regarding one's sexual health is a vital part of healthy living. SEEDS SEX-SL (Sexuality in a Second Language) programs will provide participants with the vocabulary, knowledge and resources required to care for themselves and their families in the area of sexual health.

Religious, Cultural, and Minority Groups
Tara has successfully provided sexuality education in a variety of religious and cultural settings. She has taught at a Fundamentalist School and delivered a school wide comprehensive program in the Jewish Community in Vancouver. She also looks forward to expanding this work into youth groups, camps, aboriginal groups, LGBTQ, seniors groups, festival outreach, and retreats. The possibilities are endless.
